The city will be absolutely buzzing on the Fourth of July. Here are three special events you can check out to honor the liberties upon which our great country was founded.
Fish for Free to Start Your Morning
The area’s avid anglers know that a license is required to fish here in Pennsylvania. However, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission is proud to make two exceptions a season.
This Fourth of July is one of the state’s two Fish-for-Free Days this year. If it’s been a while since you’ve tried casting out or you’re looking to get a child interested for the first time, this is your day. All Pennsylvania waterways are fair game!
Enjoy a Living History Lesson from the Fort Pitt Museum
What is living history, you may ask? Well, it’s a live action reenactment of some of the country’s most profound events and time periods. We can assure you, it’s quite a bit more engrossing than one of your old school textbooks.
The Fort Pitt Museum is hosting living history reenactments at Point State Park on the Fourth of July. Learn all about the region’s role in the American Revolution, a most pivotal time in our country’s past. Fourth at the Fort is completely free to the public.
Finish the Night with Fireworks at Heinz Field

Throughout the day, you can enjoy live music from Brandon Lay, The Stickers, and Devon Allen Johnson and Ruff Creek. Food and drinks tents will be slinging goodies to keep your belly full during the concerts.
At the end of the night, you’ll be able to take in a Fourth of July must-see. Fireworks will begin over the river at approximately 9:35 p.m. You won’t want to miss it.
