Add in the hospitality and integrity of a mom and pop joint and the warmth of community and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect day. Lola’s understands this well. About Lola’s
Lola’s Eatery opened up shop in late 2019 in historic Engine House 25. This stunningly restored firehouse was originally built in 1896 and houses a winery of the same name as well as the Clemente Museum. Following suit with their sophisticated neighbors, Lola’s brought unparalleled baked goods and brunch to the firehouse.
Behind Lola’s Eatery are Penn State hospitality graduates, Maximilian Becerra and Zoe Rieder. The couple combined their experiences to pursue their vision of cooking and baking for their community. Max’s Filipino and Mexican background and Zoe’s creative mind and expert pastry skills combine to create a delightful and unique gastronomical experience.
Menu
In keeping with their founders’ creative and passionate approach to food, Lola’s offers both tried and true and innovative takes on baked goods and brunch.
Their brunch menu includes brunch standards like avocado toast, build-your-own breakfast sandwiches, and house-made bagels with the choice of spread or house Lou.
Some of their more unique items include chorizo breakfast egg rolls, pork and shrimp lumpias (Filipino eggrolls), and the “Spam-wich,” a Spam sandwich on a house scallion brioche bun topped with a fried egg and “banana” ketchup. Sides include hash browns and home fries dusted in Garbarino’s secret seasoning.
Lola’s also offers a wide selection of made-fresh pastries. Pastries change daily and range from donuts to fruit tarts, so there’s always something to please any palate.
Cakes
With at least 72 hours’ notice, Lola’s expert baking team can make the custom cake (or cupcakes) of your dreams.
For those seeking a classic taste, Lola’s offers flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cake. On the creative side, flavor offerings include matcha and almond cakes. Guests can also choose an optional filling of either strawberry or cookie dough.
All of Lola’s cakes and cupcakes are finished with a delicious house-made buttercream frosting that’s available in a wide variety of flavors. Traditional flavors include chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and cream cheese. They also offer nutty flavors such as peanut butter, almond, and pistachio and more herbal flavors such as mint and rose water.
As if this wasn’t delicious enough, guests may also choose from a range of add-ons including more wholesome options like fresh fruit, toasted coconuts, and nuts, as well as more decadent options such as buttercream strips, chocolate drip, and Oreos.
